School Board Meeting Successful!!!

Hey Family!

I just wanted to update everyone that we handled the school board meeting with class and dignity....got our points across that we WILL NOT stand for censorship of our PRESIDENT in the schools.  We had coverage by 3 TV stations and the news paper.  I was featured in the newspaper article (see my profile to read the  article ...labeled OBAMA Speech..could not cut and paste here) I was in the story televised by WGAL channel but they chose not to put the video online.  We represented!!!...of the 8 speakers...7 spoke PRO Obama speech, the other on another topic. Myself and 3 of my sorority sisters spoke up for our kids. The meeting lasted from 7-9:30pm.  My sorority sister stayed behind for the live video coverage. I had to be at work at 11pm so I ran the heck out of there. My goodness I did not know these board meetings were so boring. I will be visible at them all from here out though....just need to take a dose of NO doze.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzz before I go.  Thanks for all your support. Basically, they are going to consider policy that allows the speeches to air...but probably provide some alternative for parents with dissenting views.  I told them I WANT my child to be a part of history. None of us appreciated them for taking this historic event away from our kids.  The admitted that they misstepped!!!  We did good ya'll!!!

Congratulations.  We all talk, ***** moan, post but few of us ever actually do anything, myself included .  You do us proud girl!

Thanks MSW! I stay so busy lately...hard to jump on here as much as I would like. I like to follow through thats for sure,....its the only way we CAN make a difference. Its good to at least have the support here...so our dialog definitely helps and often inspires.

I left feeling very accomplished....we met our objective by putting them on notuce. No sweeping under the carpet or forgetting that it happened. Our feelings are on the record!

Yes....me too... I would be kicking myself if I let this moment pass by. The next time...we could not say a word if we had remained silent on this one. Hopefully NOW there will not be a next time. Thanks for your support.
